The all-new Moon Mountain Disc Golf Course officially opened to the public on Monday, November 4, 2019. The high-alpine, championship-level course features an 18-hole, par 63 at 8072 feet for short pins and 8970 feet for long pins and uses the Score Application for specifics on each hole including distance and PAR. Designed by world champion disc golfer Eric McCabe, the course was installed by Rugged Ridge Disc Golf and is currently features the longest disc golf hole in New Mexico with its unique Hole #17.

“The course was truly designed to be a championship level course including long uphill distance and strategic placement shots,” said Everett Brophy, owner of Rugged Ridge Disc Golf. “To say the least, this course will challenge you and your skills.”

After the installation of signage, completion of trails and the construction of a restroom facility, the Village of Ruidoso’s Parks & Recreation Department plans to host an official grand opening in conjunction with a tournament in the Spring of 2020. Although there are trails located on the course, they are for walk-in traffic only, and no motorized vehicles and no hunting allowed. There is a parking area located at 501 Gavilan Canyon Road.

“We are very excited about the completion of this project, and on behalf of the Parks & Recreation Department, Rugged Ridge Disc Golf, and Backcountry Attitudes, we hope that everyone comes out and enjoys incredible addition to our beautiful community,” said Rodney Griego, the Village of Ruidoso’s Parks & Recreation Director.

**Please note that the front nine ONLY on the Grindstone Disc Golf Course are going to be closed for the Wetlands Project from November 12, 2019-January 1, 2020.
